Inside the rebuilding of Sam Darnold into Seahawks star after being ‘left for dead’

Jason Garrett played the position and coached the position, and he admires Sam Darnold for staring down the ghosts of yesteryear and making them all blink first.

“Third pick of the draft for the Jets — beaten up. Beaten up,” Garrett told Serby Says. “Left for dead.

“Go to Carolina. Bad team. Left for dead there.

“And then this rebuilding. But then it’s not rebuilding with bitterness and ‘I told you so,’ and all that other stuff, it’s just like with joy. I wanted to get to the essence of that question.”
