It’s time WNBA makes change to schedule — with one drastic option that shouldn’t be off table

Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu dreams of one day having her summers off.

The idea of the WNBA transitioning to a more natural basketball schedule — played through the winter and into the spring — seemed far-fetched when Ionescu brought it up after a mid-July practice.

“That’s a discussion for another day,” she said. “But if you ask me, I just feel like it would be cool to be playing when it’s basketball season.”

Maybe it’s time to have that discussion.
