Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Russell Hornsby & DeVon Franklin Among Ensemble Cast Joining ‘Tis So Sweet’

EXCLUSIVE: Taraji P. Henson will be joined by a group of 9, making up the ensemble cast of Netflix‘s faith-based film ‘Tis So Sweet, from producers Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin.

They include Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (King Richard, Ray), Russell Hornsby (The Hate U Give, Fences), Alexis Louder (Copshop), Semaj Prather, Arischa Conner, Angela Davis (Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, The Good Daughter), Caroline Avery Granger (Cobra Kai), Tasha Smith, and Franklin. The previously announced Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, aka Joey Bada$$, also stars.

The project reunites Henson and Ellis-Taylor, who previously starred opposite one another in the Blitz Bazawule-directed musical film adaptation of The Color Purple. Hornsby also previously co-starred with Henson on a big-screen project: Something New. Davis and Henson appeared in the Peacock project Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, from creator Shaye Ogbonna.

From screenwriter Randy Brown and based on the true story of Lenore Lindsey, ‘Tis So Sweet follows a Chicago bakery owner (Henson) who is stunned by an incredible discovery that inspires her to reclaim lost time, heal old wounds, and find purpose in life’s unexpected miracles.

This is the second film out of Perry and Franklin’s deal with Netflix to produce faith-based films for the streamer. Their first title, Ruth & Boaz, debuted at #2 on the Global Top 10 Movies List (English). The film, released via the streamer on September 26, starred Serayah, Tyler Lepley and Phylicia Rashad.

Executive producers include Tony Strickland and Angi Bones for Tyler Perry Studios and Bart Lipton. Tasha Smith serves as the film’s director.
