Asian markets mixed post Fed cut; fundamentals should matter more with upcoming pause: analysts


The STI, Hang Seng Index and KLCI saw slight gains, while Nikkei and Kospi retreated

[SINGAPORE] Asian markets were mixed on Thursday (Dec 11) after the US Federal Reserve met expectations and cut interest rates by 25 basis points overnight.

Analysts expect some rallying in the markets in the short term, although company fundamentals will likely matter more as the Fed is set to pause cuts ahead.

At midday, Singapore’s Straits Times Index rose 0.3 per cent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained 0.1 per cent and the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was up 0.3 per cent.
