“When I read the script, it was one of those things where it’s just a feeling,” the Oscar nominee told Who What Wear of the Ryan Coogler-directed film in a February 2025 interview. “It’s a feeling I’ve only got a handful of times, and that’s a privilege and a blessing. But it’s a feeling that, once you have felt it, you crave nothing but that feeling.”

In fact, she described her Character Mary as a role she “had been waiting for.”

“I hope and pray that I get to do a million more of these,” she added, “because I do think that’s part of this next phase of life.”
