Timothée Chalamet claims ‘Marty Supreme’ actor threatened him on set: ‘You really don’t want to f–k with me’

It was supreme-ly odd.

Timothee Chalamet claims that one of the background extras on “Marty Supreme” threatened him during one specifically intense scene.

“I won’t say who, but in that motel sequence, there are a lot of non-actors…that I find it really thrilling to work with, but sometimes it would take multiple takes to really get something out of them,” Chalamet, 30, said during a Q&A with Robert Downey Jr., 60, on Wednesday.

“And I’m really getting in the guy’s face and I’m really trying to get him angry with me. I was saying to [director Josh Safdie], ‘He’s not getting angry with me, he’s not getting angry with me,’” he recalled at LA’s DGA Theater. “I did another take, and then the guy said, ‘I was just in jail for 30 years. You really don’t want to f–k with me. You don’t want to see me angry.’”

He quipped: “I said to Josh, ‘Holy s–t, who do you have me opposite, man?’”

On Jan. 11, the actor won the 2026 Golden Globe for his role in “Marty Supreme,” which is currently in theaters. He also won the Critics Choice Award on Jan. 4, making him the frontrunner to pick up an Oscar.

Set in 1950’s New York City, it’s loosely based on table tennis player Marty Reisman and stars Chalamet as a table tennis player.

Odessa A’zion, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Fran Drescher also star.

Chalamet’s press tour for “Marty Supreme” has raised eyebrows with his outlandish antics.

Days before Christmas, he became the first person to stand on top of the Sphere in Las Vegas.

“Whether it’s the merch or the Zoom or the media appearances, I’m trying to get this out in the biggest way possible,” he told IndieWire.

He also showed up to the premiere in marching orange outfits with his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, 28.

“Hacks” actress Megan Stalter, 35, later did a parody of the look with Paul W. Downs at the Critics event.

Chalamet is expected to pick up an Oscar nomination for the role. Nominations will be announced Jan. 22.
