Woman kills boy, 6, in Pacific Beach hit-and-run crash: cops
A bright-eyed 6-year-old boy was tragically killed in a callous hit-and-run on a popular stretch of San Diego beach.
Hudson Stephen O’Loughlin was riding his bicycle in an alleyway on the 1500 block of Pacific Beach on Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a female driver who fled the scene, ABC 10 reported.
The unidentified motorist, 32, stopped for several seconds before speeding away, police said.
The boy was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver was later arrested in National City.
The boy’s family launched a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of funeral services, and a memorial has been set up in his honor near the alleyway where the hit-and-run occurred, according to CBS8.
“In the wake of this senseless tragedy, we want to surround Hudson’s family with the support they need to navigate the impossible days ahead,” the fundraiser said.
Neighbors were in shock after the tragedy.
“I live here in this neighborhood and have raised my kids here and I let them ride bikes all the time and that’s always my fears,” one told ABC 10.
