Universal Orlando Resort Revving Up Its Own Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Roller Coaster

Might the sequel be even better than the original?

Universal Orlando Resort today announced its very own Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift high-octane outdoor roller coaster. The experience will debut in 2027.

The attraction, based on Universal’s $7 billion dollar-grossing film franchise, will ride alongside a similar coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood. That one is nearly complete and set to debut this year.

Here’s a preview of the Universal Studios Hollywood ride, which promises a top speed of 72 MPH:

The description of the Orlando attraction sounds a lot like its Left-Coast counterpart. And that’s a good thing, given the Hollywood ride’s impressive scope and ambition.

“Riders will experience the exhilarating sensation of 360-degree drifting as they speed through jaw-dropping maneuvers – including a 170-foot vertical “spike” that will send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk,” says promotional copy provided by Universal Studios Orlando.

The attraction will replace the park’s former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster.

As with Universal Hollywood, the current Fast & Furious – Supercharged attraction in Orlando will permanently close the year the new ride debuts.
