Quarterback being sued by his college just another example of sports spinning toward self-destruction



There is nothing so broken in our sports world that it couldn’t all be fixed with a well-placed nuclear warhead. Every day presents a lavish buffet of self-destruction and blind vision from which to choose.

Here’s a Witless Sampler from this past week:

Duke University is suing its QB, Darian Mensah, to prevent him from transferring to Miami to replace sixth-year QB Carson Beck.

The grounds of the lawsuit? Breach of contract. You see, in 2024 Mensah signed an $8 million contract with Duke — a college, for crying out loud — to play QB, a contract that would this year pay him a reported $4 million in NIL dough.
