John Boyega & Cara Delevingne In ‘The Punishing’: First Look Images

EXCLUSIVE: While Cara Delevingne’s buzzy Cannes UCR title Club Kid takes the festival by storm, the actress is also starring in a buzzy market horror in the shape of The Punishing.

As we previously revealed, Delevingne stars with Star Wars alum John Boyega in the supernatural movie. Today we can reveal first look images and more details.

Spooky Pictures, Redwire Pictures, and Tiki Tane Pictures are behind the project, which is written and directed by Chris Sparling (Buried).

Currently in post and said to be rooted in Scandinavian folklore, The Punishing is set on a remote Icelandic island “where a man miraculously recovers from a terminal illness—but his wife soon discovers the land’s healing powers come at a terrifying price”.

Ignite is representing international sales for the film and launching dealmaking at the Cannes market, alongside WME Independent and UTA Independent Film Group representing domestic rights.

Producers are Steven Schneider of Spooky Pictures, William Shockley and Tom Brady of Tiki Tane Pictures, Luke Daniels of Redwire Pictures, Andrew Corkin of Uncorked Productions and Boyega. The film was fully financed by Redwire and Tiki Tane.

Ali Benmohamed, Allen Gilmer, Alois Rudenbauer, Amaury Nolasco, Daya Fernandez, George Henry Horton, Jim Burnett, Jordan Dykstra, Kevin Zhou, Kurt Fethke, Lucas Jarach, Riki Rushing, Savoy Brummer, Simmy Wolf, Tiiu Loigu, and Ben Ross serve as executive producers.
