Beartooth Lead Vocalist Caleb Shomo Comes Out as Gay As His Actress Wife of 13 Years Comes to His Support and Shares Her ‘Painful’ Separation
Caleb Shomo, the lead singer of Beartooth, publicly came out as gay on Saturday in a deeply personal message. The rock musician,33, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, where he spoke openly about his sexuality following what he described as “a lot of speculation” about his personal life.
Soon after, his wife of 13 years, actress Fleur Shomo (née Terry), posted her own statement and voiced her support for Caleb and opened up about their “disorienting and painful” separation. Caleb shared a lengthy message with his Instagram followers, saying he wanted to speak honestly about “something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now.”

“I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further,’ Caleb wrote for his 213 000 Instagram followers. “I am a proudly gay man.'” He went on to admit that it had been “difficult” for him to process his emotions around the situation and decide how to move forward with that realization.
Caleb married Fleur, who appeared in the medical drama “The Pitt,” in 2012 after dating for around two years. They do not have any children together.

In his statement, Caleb said he has “always” poured the deepest parts of himself into his music and creative work. He also looked back on the four highly self-critical albums he made with Beartooth before publicly coming out.
According to Caleb, much of his earlier music was shaped by struggles tied to his religious upbringing, depression, self-hatred, feelings of shame, and hopelessness. He added that his upcoming album will reflect a more honest and complete version of himself, saying he plans to express himself “wholeheartedly and fully” through the new music.
“I am grateful for all these albums, yet feel embarrassed at times that I wouldn’t allow myself to really dig up the roots for so long.

“I spent a decade burying feelings with alcohol, and honestly when I decided to put it down and focus on exploring why I felt this way for so long, it’s been a direct path to me reconciling with my sexuality in hopes that it will eventually lead to me experiencing self-love,” he added.
Caleb said he has been working toward finally feeling proud of who he is, adding that sharing this publicly is “a massive part” of that personal journey. “To those who have shown me love, empowerment through living life freely and openly in my presence, supporting the queer community, or simply telling me you love me whoever I am, I am forever in your debt and I hope you know what you mean to me.”
Pain for His Wife
Just hours after Caleb shared his emotional statement, Fleur posted her own message expressing support for him while also speaking honestly about their “disorienting and painful” separation.

“Not really sure how to start this cause does anything even need to be said? But I guess I’ll just dive right in,” Fleur began. She explained that the past several months had been incredibly difficult and confusing for both of them to process.
At the same time, Fleur stressed that she would “always want to love, protect and support Caleb,” adding that his well-being had mattered deeply to her throughout their relationship. She also reflected on watching him struggle with confusion and emotional pain before coming out, saying she often wanted to help but did not know how.
Fleur acknowledged the emotional conflict she experienced during that period, admitting she frequently questioned herself while also feeling anger and uncertainty about what the situation meant for her own future and life.
“Our nearly 14yrs of marriage was wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love. Nobody will know anything about our marriage like we do,” she added.

“And no one can ever truly know what depths of love exist between two people unless they are those people.”
“I hope anyone in the world going through this finds hope & courage & I hope the fans can continue to support Caleb,” she wrote before concluding her statement.
Looking ahead, Fleur said she plans to focus on the things she can control and continue building the life she wants for herself. She added that if she keeps “saying hi to as many dogs as possible along the way,” she believes things will gradually improve “day by day, piece by small piece, bird by bird.”
