Texas Tech says it's willing to shuffle schedules, buy out games to play Texas in 2026

Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire told reporters in a teleconference meeting that he wants to play Texas, and he’s talked with coaches of both Abilene Christian and Texas State about playing each other to start the season. Texas Tech is scheduled to play Abilene Christian, while the Longhorns are set to play the Bobcats on Sept. 5 to open the 2026 season.
