Patrick Renna To Reunite With ‘The Sandlot’ Cast On New Comedy Series

EXCLUSIVE: Patrick Renna is bringing the gang back together. He and many of the original cast members from The Sandlot are re-teaming on a new comedy series from Renna and Kyle Howard, to be produced through their prodco Hambino Media. The series marks the first official reunion of the original cast since the release of the 1993 coming-of-age sports film more than three decades ago.

Dugout Dads will star Renna with appearances across the season from Tom Guiry, Chauncey Leopardi, Marty York, Brandon Quintin Adams, Victor DiMattia, Shane Obedzinski, Grant Gelt, and Will Horneff. Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World) will also star as Renna’s wife.

In Dugout Dads, when an idealistic dad (Renna) volunteers to coach his kids’ Little League team, he discovers that the most unruly players on the field aren’t the ten-year-olds… they’re the other coaches, parents, and sometimes himself. Throughout the season, Coach Patrick finds himself constantly at odds with his own advice to the kids: baseball is supposed to be FUN.

All the characters in the series are original and not related to The Sandlot.

“After years of coaching Little League, I’ve witnessed some truly epic meltdowns on the field, and it’s always the adults (I’d be lying if I said it was never me). I just knew those experiences had to become a show. What makes it even more special is that it’s bringing me back together with the cast of The Sandlot, guys I’ve shared a unique bond and brotherhood with for more than 30 years. It feels like a story I was meant to tell, with exactly the right people to tell it with,” Renna said.

The project is written by Sebastian Jones (Friends) and Dan Kopelman (Malcolm in the Middle) and is directed by Victor Nelli Jr. In addition to Renna and Howard, Victoria Fradkin also produces. Dugout Dads is slated to be released later this year, with further details to be revealed soon.

Hambino Media, founded in 2025 and named after Renna’s character in The Sandlot, has built an ambitious slate of both scripted and non-scripted projects in partnership with brands and studios.

Renna is represented by Griffin Talent.
