Chiefs need to address a Patrick Mahomes problem in 2026
The Kansas City Chiefs had a very un-Chiefs-like season in 2025. They didn’t make the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era. Then, Mahomes even got injured, tearing his ACL and LCL. Things couldn’t have gone worse.
But that’s all in the past. The Chiefs are looking to make 2025 a rarity, an anomaly in their story as a franchise. To do that, though, they need to help Mahomes next season. They need to get this guy some help on offense. Even after the draft and offseason signings, the Chiefs could still benefit from adding a veteran wide receiver.
Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report says that this team simply needs to sign a wide receiver as soon as possible.

In the piece, he says that “the Chiefs’ wide receivers shouldn’t be considered a reliable group. Aside from fifth-round rookie Cyrus Allen, who is a good fit in the slot, Kansas City didn’t add anything to the position and should consider all available options to provide a boost. Is a Tyreek Hill reunion possible?”
My Take: Little Moves Make the Difference in 2026
The Chiefs could easily say their wideout room is set. They don’t have too thin of a room, and they have some solid players in the fold. But, it’s the little moves that will make big differences in the coming season.
Whether it’s Mahomes or Justin Fields starting out the season for the Chiefs, they’ll need as much support on offense as possible. They have a star running back in Kenneth Walker III. They need a vet at wide receiver who they can comfortably interact with when the time is right.

Having a vet on wideout matters the most in the postseason. Assuming the Chiefs get there, that’s when Mahomes will really thank this franchise for adding some seasoned talent to the wide receiver position.
