PlayStation ditches physical discs entirely
PlayStation has announced it will not release physical discs with new games starting from 2028, in a move it said is a “natural direction” to “adapt to consumer trends” but has been met with frustration by some fans.
In a major shift, Sony Interactive Entertainment said new games will be available on PlayStation store and other retailers in digital form only. The announcement, shared in a blog post, said the transition away from physical discs aligns more closely with how most of its users access and play games.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
