Bart Diguglielmo: Harrowing Video Captures Moment Army Veteran Is Shot Dead by Florida Woman Over Minor Dispute at Walmart Parking Spot

A shocking video captures the moment an Army veteran was shot dead in what appears to have been a minor dispute over a parking space at a Florida Walmart. The cellphone video begins with Bart Diguglielmo, 62, appearing to argue with an unidentified woman in the parking lot of a Walmart in North Lauderdale at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

As the confrontation continues, Diguglielmo walks toward the woman while she backs away. At the same time, a vehicle pulls out of the parking spot where the two had been arguing. Moments later, the woman suddenly pulled out a gun and shot Bart Diguglielmo while he was still several feet away.

Shot and Killed in No Time

The video shows Diguglielmo grabbing his stomach before collapsing to the ground. Diguglielmo, a New Jersey native, is initially seen sitting on the ground before lying down as he bled from his injuries, officials said.

After the shooting, the woman is seen placing the gun on top of a nearby car as she waited for law enforcement officers to arrive, while witnesses said she was screaming and crying.

Some witnesses said the woman continued shouting at Diguglielmo as he lay on the ground following the argument, which deputies said began over a simple dispute about a parking space.

After being taken into custody, the shooter claimed she had acted in self-defense, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Diguglielmo was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

A native of Hammonton, New Jersey, Diguglielmo served as a combat nurse, combat medic, and tactical communications expert, according to his Facebook profile.

“He was a Christian man and a very good person and would not hurt anyone,” a sibling, whose name was not disclosed, said.

Diguglielmo, who lived in Lauderhill, Florida, was also a retired nurse, his sister said.

Insensitive Action after a Minute Argument

Diguglielmo’s daughter, Amanda, broke down in tears as she described her father as a “good man” and said they had recently been working to repair their relationship. “[Nobody] deserves to lose their life over a parking spot,” she told Local 10 during an emotional interview.

Amanda also denied claims that her father had started the argument.

“Another [news site] says it was because my dad was making some type of advance towards the woman, which I will completely debunk because my dad is not that person. He’s not perfect, but not someone that would do this to this extreme,” she said.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the fatal shooting and are reviewing the cellphone video as they determine whether criminal charges will be filed against the shooter, the Broward County State Attorney’s Office said.
