Kylian Mbappe is going viral for what he did immediately after win
Paraguay did everything they could for 90-plus minutes to shut down one of the best attacks the World Cup has ever seen.
And although they did keep the French attack from scoring in the run of play, their physicality and hard-nosed style of play was the death of them, with a penalty in the box leading to Kylian Mbappe scoring his 19th goal in World Cup history.
Mbappe and the rest of the France team dealt with Paraguay’s antics throughout the entire game.
From time wasting to hard fouls to literal slaps that weren’t seen by the officials, France had to deal with a team that knew they were outmatched in the skill department and attempted to even the game through underhanded tactics. To make matters worse, it was one of the hottest temperature games in the history of the tournament, with it near 100 degrees in Philadelphia for the July 4th showdown.

After prevailing though, Paraguay’s player of the tournament, goalkeeper Orlando Gill, tried to reconcile with Mbappe after the ultimate whistle. Mbappe, who spent the final few minutes of the game laughing and taunting the Paraguayan players for their play, completely ignored Gill, with both teams causing a ruckus in the center of the field.
The moment has spread like wildfire across social media.
While in most cases Mbappe might have looked like the villain in the situation, due to Paraguay’s actions on the field, there was overwhelming support for the French superstar.
France will now have a couple of days of rest before moving towards their next destination of Boston, where they’ll take on Morocco in a rematch of the 2022 World Cup semifinals.
