NBA broadcaster Jacob Tobey is suddenly at the center of a wave of online attention after reports surfaced that he is out as the Spurs’ lead play-by-play announcer for allegedly cheating on his girlfriend with the sister of a player on the team, sources told Front Office Sports.
The posts were later deleted, but not before screenshots began circulating widely across social media and sports forums. They fueled rumors tying Tobey to an alleged personal dispute involving the sister of Spurs guard Lindy Waters III. So far, though, neither Tobey, the Spurs nor anyone allegedly involved has publicly confirmed the posts or the claims they contained.

Just weeks before the online controversy surfaced, Tobey announced that he had signed a multi-year contract extension to remain the Spurs’ play-by-play announcer. That recent extension made the sudden burst of attention around him stand out even more.
The latest attention around Tobey began when a series of Instagram Stories appeared on his verified account earlier this week. One post showed a photo of Tobey with a woman identified as his longtime girlfriend, along with text claiming he had been unfaithful with Loren Waters, the sister of Spurs player Lindy Waters III.
Another story appeared to show photo booth images of Tobey kissing a woman identified in the posts as Loren Waters. A separate Instagram post was also edited to include the hashtag “#cheater.” All of the posts were later removed from the account.
The authenticity of the posts has not been independently verified, and it is still unclear who uploaded them.

Once the Instagram Stories appeared, screenshots spread quickly across X, Reddit, Instagram, and other platforms.
