Zach Cregger’s Horror Movie ‘Weapons’ Freaks Out CinemaCon With First Look

What is Zach Cregger‘s Weapons about? We finally found out.

“It’s a twisty, turny movie,” said Cregger onstage during Warner Bros‘ CinemaCon presentation Tuesday in Las Vegas.

“If you saw Barbarian, it’s pandering, it worked a little bit,” he added.

Praising the wonder of horror films, Cregger said: “There’s an undeniable amplification when you go into a horror movie where you’re allowed to be on this roller-coaster ride together. … To do it in unison is a wonderful thing.”

In the footage shown to the exhibitor crowd, kids wake up at 2:17 a.m. and wreck havoc on a small town. The trailer is narrated by a 5-year old’s voice. Mobs of parents are losing their minds in a school meeting. Josh Brolin’s character demands and yells for answers. Julia Garner, a concerned parent, is distressed and wakes up with night sweats over the stress. She walks into a classroom in the middle of the night to find spooky kids at a desk. But there’s blood-curdling images — blood exploding from a head, some red-haired clown kid popping up in the forest, while one teenager is worried he’s in the wrong place.

The top-secret horror movie, which is highly buzzed, pushed its way onto the 2025 schedule on August 8 after previously being dated on MLK weekend 2026. Test scores were hot, we’ve heard. Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong and June Diane Raphael also star.

Cregger mentioned that the footage might not make its way to the public. Stay tuned.
