McConnell Breaks Silence With Photo and Statement

The Senator, who has had several health scares in recent years, including freezing and falling incidents, in his statement on Sunday attributed the latest fall, like previous ones, to having survived polio when he was a child, which left lingering effects on his left leg.

But McConnell said in his statement that he’s since been able to move from hospital care to a rehabilitation center, where he’s set to regain his strength. “I’m continuing to do everything they ask to speed my recovery,” the statement added.

However, the statement from McConnell said he will remain unable to vote in the Senate, where an already-slim Republican majority has been temporarily reduced following the sudden death of Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina on Saturday.

Doubts loom about McConnell’s health

What appeared to be a proof-of-life photo appeared just as Beshear renewed his concerns over McConnell’s prolonged absence Sunday. “I get that we all have a right to privacy for our health, but when you run for an office like mine or Sen. McConnell’s, you answer to the voters,” Beshear said.
