Phillies fan loses 2 home run balls in same game
A Philadelphia Phillies fan who came out to see his squad take on the Los Angeles Dodgers Monday night had a bit of a rough evening.
The fan, who had donned a Kelly green Eagles jersey, was in the outfield and narrowly missed out on not just one, but two home run balls that very much should have been his.
The first ball he actually caught, though he was greatly assisted by the fan in front of him, who had trapped the ball in his hat.
That fan in front lost his handle on the hat, sending it tumbling back into the air, and the Eagles-supporting fan managed to grab the ball out of it.
As he celebrated catching a home run, that fan in front looked for his hat, then appeared to start a heated confrontation over the ball, almost assuredly claiming that he had been the one to catch and thus was its rightful owner.
Faced with a difficult choice, the Eagles fan turned the ball over.
A Case of Bad Luck
Later in the game, it appeared karma may be smiling on our friend in the Eagles jersey.
Another homer headed his way, and he timed his jump perfectly to grab the ball.
Despite it appearing to hit both of his hands, the man in the Eagles jersey lost the handle, and he was unable to snag the ball off the ground before other fans got to it.
He was visibly frustrated with himself, clapping his hands together in an apparent attempt to see if they still work.
A nearby usher seemed to give the man a friendly shrug, something akin to “tough luck, but what are you going to do?”
That’s hardly consolation for losing not just one but two home run balls, but hey, at least the Phillies won 10-7.
