Azzi Fudd challenges Steph Curry to 3-point shootout
Dallas Wings guard Azzi Fudd wants to go head-to-head with the NBA‘s all-time leader in 3-pointers made, Stephen Curry. Fudd challenged Curry to a 3-point shootout after becoming the first rookie in league history to win the WNBA’s All-Star 3-point contest on Friday.
“Steph, if you’re listening… I’ve been asking for a rematch since high school. So maybe this is our time to figure out a time and place,” Fudd said to reporters after winning the contest.
Fudd won the 3-point competition at Curry’s SC30 Select Camp when she was 15 years old in 2018. Later that year, Fudd became the first high school sophomore to be named the Gatorade Player of the Year.
Fudd went on to win a national championship at UConn in 2025 and was the No. 1 overall draft pick by the Wings in the 2026 WNBA Draft in April. Curry has continued to serve as a mentor for Fudd ever since she attended his camp in 2018.
Curry Competed in 3-Point Shootout Against Sabrina Ionescu
Curry participated in a WNBA vs. NBA 3-point shootout against Sabrina Ionescu in 2024. Ionescu did not participate in this year’s WNBA All-Star 3-point competition but won the 2023 and 2025 WNBA 3-point contest.
Ionescu set a WNBA and NBA record when she made 25 of 27 three-point shots during her final run in the 2023 contest.
During the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend, Ionescu went first and scored 26 points then Curry followed with 29 points to win the competition.
Fudd could be the next WNBA star to compete against Curry in a 3-point shootout in the future.
