Dodgers predicted to trade power-hitting outfield prospect

The Los Angeles Dodgers are at the top of the MLB standings, so there is no question that they will be buyers at the trade deadline.

The Dodgers are looking to three-peat as World Series champions. Because of this, they should be aggressively looking to upgrade their already-stacked roster.

However, it is also possible that the Dodgers could move out some players to free up room for upgrades. Due to this, one of their most notable prospects is being viewed as a trade candidate to watch ahead of the deadline.

The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya predicted that the Dodgers will end up trading outfield prospect Ryan Ward by the deadline.

“Ward is a trade candidate who the Dodgers listened on earlier this season, and with a dearth of outfield options on the market, Ward — a consistent Triple-A performer who debuted this season — could be a stealth option for teams looking to add a bat,” Ardaya wrote.

With Ward having trouble finding a permanent spot on the Dodgers’ deep roster, it would make sense if they looked to move him. This is especially so if he was used in a trade package to land a player who would help them immediately.

Ward has primarily spent this season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he has 11 home runs and 47 RBIs. This is after he hit an impressive 36 home runs in 143 games for the Triple-A club last season, so it is clear that he has good upside with his power.

It will be interesting to see if Ward generates interest ahead of the deadline. In his first 20 career MLB games this season for LA, he has three home runs, 12 RBIs, and a .218 batting average.
