Motorcyclists Accounted for More Than Half of Road Deaths in 2025
The fatal crash comes amid continued concerns over motorcycle safety on Singapore’s roads.
Motorcyclists and pillion riders accounted for 54.8 percent of all traffic accidents and 53 percent of traffic deaths in 2025, despite motorcycles making up only around 15 percent of the country’s total vehicle population.
Annual road traffic statistics showed that accidents involving motorcyclists increased from 3,973 cases in 2024 to 4,227 in 2025. The number of motorcyclist and pillion rider casualties also rose during the same period, from 4,510 to 4,844.
The police investigations into the BKE accident are continuing.
