Cash’s representatives have not revealed the nature of the medical emergency. They have only confirmed that doctors have advised her to take a temporary break from traveling and performing.

Who Is Rosanne Cash?

Rosanne Cash has built a successful career of her own despite growing up as the daughter of one of country music’s biggest stars.

Cash was born to Johnny Cash and his first wife, Vivian Liberto. She spent part of her early career working with her father before beginning her own recording career.

She became one of the notable “new country” artists of the 1980s, with her 1981 album “Seven Year Ache” becoming a major breakthrough. The album’s title track also became one of her best-known songs.

Cash later moved beyond traditional country music and explored folk, pop, rock and Americana throughout her career.

Which Rosanne Cash Concerts Have Been Postponed?

The medical emergency has affected three of Cash’s upcoming concerts.

Cash was scheduled to perform in Sheridan, Wyoming, on Sept. 8, followed by a show in Billings, Montana, on Sept. 9. Her Sept. 10 performance in Bozeman, Montana, has also been postponed.

Cash’s management said that the singer deeply regrets having to postpone the shows and hopes to reschedule the appearances. New dates have not yet been announced.

Cash has been touring with her husband and longtime musical partner, John Leventhal. The two have worked together on several of her musical projects, with Leventhal contributing as a producer, songwriter and musician.

Her next scheduled performance is currently listed for Sept. 19 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She also has performances scheduled in Europe in October, followed by a Nashville show in November and additional U.S. dates in January 2027. Whether she will appear at those shows will depend on her recovery and her doctors’ advice.

In March, she released “Who Loves the Sun,” a collaboration with The National frontman Matt Berninger. The song is a cover of The Velvet Underground track and was recorded for the Hulu series “Sunny Nights.”

Cash has dealt with a serious health issue in the past. In 2007, the singer underwent brain surgery after being diagnosed with Chiari I malformation. The condition affects the area where the skull and brain meet and can place pressure on the brain stem.

Cash has explained that her father made the list after realizing that she did not know many of the songs he considered part of her musical background. The collection covered different parts of American music, including folk, blues, gospel and country.

Years later, Cash recorded several of those songs for “The List,” turning something her father had given her into one of her own albums.

Johnny Cash died in 2003 at the age of 71. Rosanne has continued to speak and write about her father and the influence he had on her music.
