‘The Traitors’ London Stage Adaptation To Feature Nick Mohammed

Ted Lasso‘s Nick Mohammed will host The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal, a new West End stage adaptation of the hit BBC One-iPlayer competition series.

The announcement from producers Studio Lambert and Neal Street Productions comes via a video – watch it above – in which the series’ host Claudia Winkleman swears in Mohammed as the new stage host.

Written by John Finnemore and directed by Robert Hastie, The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal will actually include five separate plays, each repping a round of the competition. Performances begin May 11, 2027, at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on Drury Lane in London’s West End.

The production’s website explains the premise: “From Monday to Friday, the story begins identically, but develops into five entirely distinct plays. Characters banished or murdered early in one version emerge victorious in another. Each play stands alone as a complete drama. Together, they form an unprecedented portrait of who people are under pressure, and the way their true colours show in the end.

“Then,” the explanation continues, “on Saturdays, the audience takes control as they decide who will wear the cloak. Their choice determines in real-time which version will be played out during that performance.”

Written by Finnemore (Cabin Pressure), and directed by Hastie, whose credits include the Olivier Award-winning Standing at the Sky’s Edge and the West End hit Operation Mincemeat, The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal is produced by makers of The Traitors UK, Studio Lambert, and Neal Street Productions.

Per the synopsis: “A world of paranoia, betrayal and shifting alliances, The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal is a dramatic exploration of the sliding doors of fate, where nothing is certain, and no one is safe.”

The trailer featuring Mohammed and Winkleman was filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, home of the BBC series. Watch it above.

The creative team includes production designer Ben Stones, with Mark Henderson on lighting, Alexandra Faye Braithwaite on sound, Kate Prince as choreographer, Martin Lowe writing the music and Stuart Burt CDG CSA as casting director.

Studio Lambert CEO Stephen Lambert said: “The actor who portrays The Host in these plays has to hold a live audience through an entire game each evening, five different ways. It needs charm, mischief, acting talent and complete control of the stage. Nick has all four, and the fact that he played the game and knows its intricacies, is a wonderful bonus.”

Said Mohammed in a statement, “At first, I didn’t want to believe that a series of fictional plays based on The Traitors could ever contain as many brilliant twists and turns as the real thing – or be quite as compelling. But John Finnemore has crafted an absolute masterpiece: a cycle of five plays that are each as funny as they are moving, and of course, deeply, deeply unpredictable. And under the direction of the brilliant Robert Hastie, I couldn’t be more delighted to be joining such an original and wildly ambitious show. To take on Claudia’s role, as it were, is not just a privilege but a real challenge as an actor – I simply don’t have enough hair. But I will do my utmost not to disappoint.
