Stray Kids’ Han Donates $75,000 on His Birthday to Help Abused and Vulnerable Children
Stray Kids’ Han chose to mark his birthday by giving back to children facing difficult circumstances. The K-pop star donated 100 million KRW, approximately $75,000, to support children who have experienced abuse as well as those growing up in care.
On Monday, Sept. 14, Han donated the full amount to Angels Haven, a social welfare organization that supports vulnerable children and young people. Rather than directing the contribution toward a single cause, the singer divided the donation equally between two areas of support.
Half of the money will be used to help protect children who have experienced abuse and provide psychological treatment. The remaining half will support children living at the Eunpyeong Angel Home, including assistance related to their care and education.
For Han, the donation was intended to provide more than financial assistance. He expressed hope that the contribution could offer comfort to children who have experienced painful circumstances and help them move toward a safer and happier future.
“I wanted to offer a little warmth and comfort to the hearts of wounded children,” Han said. “I sincerely hope the children can overcome their pain and find their bright smiles again in a safe environment.”
Birthday Tradition of Giving Back
Han’s latest donation continues a pattern of using his birthday as an opportunity to support people in need. The Stray Kids member also made a significant contribution on his birthday last year, donating to Samsung Medical Center.
That earlier donation was intended to help cover medical treatment costs for pediatric patients as well as adults dealing with serious illnesses. His latest contribution once again places children at the center of his birthday giving.
The decision to donate to causes involving abused and vulnerable children also highlights the importance of psychological and emotional support alongside basic care. For young people who have experienced abuse, access to professional treatment can be an important part of recovering from trauma and rebuilding a sense of security.
Meanwhile, the portion directed toward Eunpyeong Angel Home will contribute to the everyday care and education of children living there, giving Han’s donation a wider impact.
Stray Kids Members Continue Philanthropic Efforts
Han is not the only Stray Kids member to make a substantial charitable contribution. Earlier this year, fellow member Changbin also donated 100 million KRW toward pediatric support.
Such donations have become a recurring part of the members’ individual philanthropic activities, with the artists frequently supporting causes related to children, healthcare and other vulnerable groups.
For fans, Han’s latest contribution carries an especially meaningful message because it came on his birthday. While birthdays are often celebrated with gifts and events, the singer chose to turn his special day into an opportunity to provide support to children who may not have the same circumstances or opportunities.
Han’s Work Beyond the Stage
Han debuted with Stray Kids in 2018 under JYP Entertainment and has established himself as one of the group’s key performers. He contributes as both a vocalist and rapper while also playing an important role in the group’s music production.
The singer is part of 3RACHA, Stray Kids’ producing unit alongside Bang Chan and Changbin. The trio has been closely involved in writing and producing music for the group throughout its career.
As Stray Kids continue their activities as one of K-pop’s prominent groups, Han’s latest donation offers fans a glimpse of another side of his life away from music and performances.
His message focused not on himself or his achievements, but on children who have experienced hardship. By directing his birthday donation toward protection, psychological treatment, care and education, Han is hoping to help create an environment where vulnerable children can recover and look toward a brighter future.
