Human remains found in Grand Canyon during search for Timothy Allen Smith, hiker who vanished in flash flood weeks ago

Human remains were discovered in the Grand Canyon during a search for a missing hiker who vanished during deadly flash flooding.

The remains, which have not yet been identified, were found near Crystal Rapid on the Colorado River on Monday, according to the National Park Service.

They were then recovered and transferred to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Post Tuesday.

The Aug. 29 floods killed two men, identified as chiropractor John Giusti, 46, and Brent Rosenkranz, 42, both of Granbury, Texas, according to Fox 10 Phoenix.

Another man remains missing, Timothy Allen Smith, 53 — however, officials have not confirmed whether the remains recovered Monday belong to him.

Emergency crews rescued about 80 people from the canyon during the flooding.
