J Balvin and Girlfriend Valentina Ferrer Break Up After Nearly 10 Years Together

J Balvin will be riding solo from here on out. 

The “Mi Gente” singer’s longtime girlfriend Valentina Ferrer shared that she and Balvin (real name José Álvaro Osorio Balvín) have broken up after almost 10 years together.

“After sharing so many years and important moments together,” Ferrer—with whom Balvin shares 5-year-old son Río—wrote in a statement, translated from Spanish, shared to Instagram Sept. 16, “José and I have decided to take separate paths.”

“It was a decision made out of love, respect and the desire to do what is best for our family,” she added. “Our priority will be continuing to be there for Rio with all our love.”

And though the Miss Argentina winner didn’t get into any details about the reason they’ve broken up, she confirmed the pair are both at peace with the decision. 

“We are moving through this process calmly,” she concluded, “and are profoundly grateful for the understanding and respect shown in this very personal moment for us.”
