CBS News Expands ‘The Takeout’ Segments, Partners With VoteHub

With about six weeks until the midterms, CBS News 24/7’s The Takeout with Major Garrett is adding new recurring reporting segments, while the network is partnering with VoteHub.

The Takeout, which airs at 5 p.m. ET, is the signature politics show on the streaming channel. The new segments include the features State by State, focusing on battleground states; Data Central, a deep dive into polling and data; The Money Machine, a look at campaign fundraising; and Reporter’s Notebook, a look at stories behind the headlines.

The CBS News Data Desk also has partnered with VoteHub, the non partisan political data and analysis site, to incorporate election data, survey aggregation and maps into the network’s midterm coverage. Zachary Donnini, VoteHub’s head of data science, will continue to appear on the CBS News streaming platform, and their team will work with the CBS News Data Desk on election night. Anthony Salvanto is the network’s executive director of elections and surveys.

Garrett, CBS News’ chief Washington correspondent, said in a statement, “These new segments bring together data, on-the-ground reporting and conversations with newsmakers to help audiences better understand the election and the issues driving it.”
