Bobb’e J. Thompson is currently in U.S. Marshals custody awaiting transfer to a federal prison after the former child actor was sentenced to 30 months for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
The actor, best known for playing Stanley on That’s So Raven, pleaded guilty to the federal charge in April 2026.
Thompson, 30, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City, Iowa, on September 16. He will also serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence, and federal inmates do not receive parole.

His 30-month sentence was imposed after he pleaded guilty on April 28, 2026, to possession of a firearm by a felon. Once he completes his prison term, Thompson is scheduled to serve three years of supervised release.
Why Was Bobb’e J. Thompson Sentenced to Prison?
The case dates back to a traffic stop in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, on Sept. 22, 2025.
According to federal prosecutors, law enforcement observed Thompson driving 104 mph in a 70-mph zone. When an officer approached the vehicle, Thompson and a passenger were allegedly seen switching seats, while the officer reported smelling marijuana.
A subsequent search found a backpack belonging to Thompson containing several bags of marijuana purchased from a dispensary and a loaded .40-caliber handgun with a 15-round magazine and a round in the chamber, prosecutors said.
Authorities determined that the handgun had previously been reported stolen from a vehicle in Kansas City, Missouri, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Thompson later pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Federal prosecutors said Thompson’s criminal history includes 2020 convictions for battery causing serious bodily injury and assault with force, as well as a 2022 conviction for prohibited firearm possession.

Thompson was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison, or two and a half years. Following his incarceration, he will serve three years of supervised release. Federal inmates are not eligible for parole, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
