Meg Ryan and her son Jack Quaid are making waves in the City of Angels.

The mother-son duo stepped out for their first public outing together in years, making an ultra-rare joint appearance at the opening night of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles Sept. 19.

Indeed, Ryan, 64, and Quaid, 34, were all smiles as they posed for photos together at the star-studded event.

For the occasion, the City of Angels actress—mom to Jack with ex Dennis Quaid—put a spin on a classic LBD, wearing a black jacquard midi dress with ruffled trim. Ryan opted for minimal accessories, pairing her look with black shades and a silver cuff bracelet.

As for her son? The Boys star sported a dark gray suit over a white shirt, along with a black printed tie. Ryan—who married his costar Claudia Doumit in April—also wore his wedding band on his left ring finger.
