Presley Gerber Cause of Death: Cindy Crawford’s Son Died of Suspected Overdose in Rehab, Report Says

Cindy Crawford’s only son, Presley Gerber, reportedly died of an overdose at a California rehab facility. Sources told TMZ on Monday that Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, were informed that their son had died from an overdose. The 27-year-old model was living with several other people in a separate house on the rehab center’s Los Angeles-area property when he died.

However, the medical examiner has not yet determined his cause of death or performed an autopsy, which would include toxicology tests to determine what substances were in his system when he died. Presley died at a rehab facility whose location was not revealed. It’s also not clear where Crawford and her husband were at the time of Presley’s death.

Family Asks for Privacy

After news of his death emerged, the Gerber-Crawford family asked for “privacy during this very difficult and painful time.” Presley followed his mother and sister Kaia Gerber into modeling after signing with IMG Models at age 15. A year later, he made his runway debut at the Moschino resort show in Los Angeles.

Last month, his sister, Kaia, 24, spoke about the impact Presley’s drug use and mental health struggles had on their family. “When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she told Vogue.

Last November, Presley said he had stepped away from social media to “take care of my own mental health for a bit.”

A month later, he spoke candidly about his personal life in a social media video. His sister, Kaia, said her brother’s struggles made her want to be the “easy” child. She explained, “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.” He listed the medications he took for “night terrors” and “panic attacks.”

“I feel like honesty is the best policy,” he began, before revealing that he was taking 1mg of Buprenorphine twice a day, a medication used to treat pain and opioid use disorders.

Long Struggle with Addiction

Presley also said his use of “benzos” had fluctuated depending on what was happening in his life. Benzodiazepines help “slow down activity in your brain and nervous system” and are used to treat “anxiety and related mental health conditions,” according to Cleveland Clinic.

“Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of loss in many different forms recently, so that is not an excuse, but it’s the reason why I am where I’m at now,” he said.

He did not elaborate on the “loss” he mentioned, but said he also took Xanax at night or when his “panic attacks are really, really bad.”

The model also mentioned Valium, admitting that he was unsure exactly how much he had been taking. “Who f***ing knows anymore,” he said.

In the Instagram reel, Presley said doctors gave conflicting advice, adding, “doctors say a lot of different things so it’s kind of scary. But hopefully between my research and their research and the world and God, we can finally figure this out.”
