Furious Rep. Lauren Boebert Lashes Out at Allegation She Had Sex With Three Staffers, Including Two Women

Rep. Lauren Boebert has hit back at those who repeated allegations from an ethics “complaint” claiming she had sex with three staffers, including two women. The Colorado Republican, 38, strongly denied the accusations, pointing out that they originated with political operative David Wheeler, who has previously made questionable claims about her.

The divorced mother of four has also denied the allegations in the past, saying that she is straight. “Hey journalists,” Boebert raged in a video message posted on X. “You all ran a smear and called it news. Some sloppy, desperate, obsessive hack stamps under oath on a fake filing so you’ll write penalty of perjury in the headline.”

No Tolerance Defense

“It’s a scam and you fell for it. No member of Congress certified in writing that his salacious BS attack was made in good faith and warrants review as required by Ethics.” The complaint alleges that Boebert had relationships with former district director Clarice Navarro Ratzlaff, former chief of staff Jeffrey Small and current chief of staff Raven Finegan.

All three have denied the allegations. Boebert said Wheeler’s claim that he had submitted a “complaint” to the House Ethics Committee was misleading because the panel does not accept complaints “filed inside 60 days of an election.”

Under House Ethics Committee rules, complaints submitted by people who are not lawmakers must also be certified by a member of Congress.

“That’s right, ethics isn’t even allowed to accept this garbage,” Boebert said in disgust. Wheeler accused Boebert of having a relationship with her former district director and appeared to suggest she was also involved with her former and current chiefs of staff. Much of the complaint focused on Ratzlaff, who strongly rejected the allegations.

House rules adopted after the #MeToo movement prohibit lawmakers from having sexual relationships with their staffers. Wheeler also alleged that Boebert and Ratzlaff had a “threesome” with former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), a friend of the congresswoman. Gaetz mocked the allegation in response.

Questionable Allegations

The American Muckrakers chief said anonymous sources, House disclosures and other records backed up the allegations. However, Wheeler has a history of making questionable claims about Boebert, whom he has targeted for years. He previously admitted conducting “sloppy” research containing “inaccuracies.”

In 2022, he published allegations that Boebert had worked as an escort. Critics quickly pointed out that the report featured photos of another woman while implying she was Boebert. The congresswoman later cited CNN’s fact check of Wheeler’s 2022 allegations.

Despite admitting the mistakes, Wheeler filed a defamation lawsuit against Boebert after she had threatened to pursue legal action against him. Several of the claims were recommended for dismissal, and the group eventually chose to drop the lawsuit.

Boebert complained that the controversy had also exposed her current and former aides by publishing their names and photos. “I know that you’re more than willing to attack me and shame my household, but this is different and you crossed a line,” the congresswoman said. “I hope you think about the impact that this could have on them and their families the next time you rush to print without doing a little bit of research.”

Boebert has also been vocal about sex scandals involving other lawmakers. “Go to church. Find Jesus. Why is everybody so horny here?” Boebert told reporters in April after allegations surfaced against former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and former Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Ariz.) faced calls to resign, with both controversies involving sex scandals.
