Rita Wilson Unveils Massive Back Tattoo—and It Matches Son Chet Hanks’ Ink

“These parts of your body that had been there for you in such a beautiful way were gone,” Rita told People. “I’m very grateful that there are things nowadays in modern medicine like reconstruction and implants.”

“In my mom’s generation, if you had breast cancer, that was it,” she explained. “There was nothing. You were left with sort of a shadow.”

That’s why she’s not ashamed to own the medical advances available to her.

“I like to say that I’ve finally gone Hollywood now,” she joked, “and I have some in place.”

And while the Now and Then actress has been in remission for over a decade, she marvels at the strength her body had throughout the difficult chapter. 

“It was interesting to look at my body in that way and see it, understand what is missing,” she explained, “but also [see] what my body could do to keep me healing and healthy and have that appreciation.”
