Black Ops 6 Is Now on Game Pass Premium, Here’s What You Can Play
If Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been sitting on your wishlist since it launched, your Xbox subscription might already cover it. Microsoft confirmed the game joined Game Pass Premium on September 25, adding the title to a tier that previously did not include it.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (Cloud, Console, Handheld, and PC) – September 25. Now with Game Pass Premium; joining Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass,” Xbox Wire said in its September Game Pass update.
“This is signature Black Ops across a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, and the epic return of Round-Based Zombies,” Xbox said in its Game Pass announcement.
Xbox lists the game for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming and supported handheld devices, so Premium subscribers are not getting a reduced version with certain modes removed.
What Premium Includes
For console and PC players, the change is straightforward. Black Ops 6 is now included in the Premium catalogue, meaning subscribers can play the game without buying it separately.

“Cloud playable with Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. Game purchase required,” the Xbox Store listing for Black Ops 6 currently states.
Xbox’s cloud gaming page for Black Ops 6 says the game is cloud-playable with Essential, Premium or Ultimate. Another Xbox store listing, however, says streaming through Essential or Premium requires purchasing the game. Microsoft has not clearly reconciled those two statements on its public-facing pages.
That means the safest distinction is between having Black Ops 6 in the Premium catalogue and being entitled to stream it without owning the game. Premium clearly covers the game for direct console or PC play, while cloud access without a separate purchase is less certain.
“Cloud playable game included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Game purchase required to stream with Xbox Game Pass Essential or Premium,” Microsoft’s Xbox Store listing says. Anyone choosing Premium primarily for cloud gaming should check the entitlement shown for their own Xbox account before assuming the subscription covers streaming.
PC Game Pass Is Different
PC Game Pass subscribers already had access to Black Ops 6 independently of this Premium addition. Microsoft adding the game to Premium therefore does not create a new benefit for someone who already has the PC-specific plan.
The change is more relevant to Premium subscribers who want to play on Xbox consoles, supported handhelds or across Microsoft’s broader gaming ecosystem without purchasing Black Ops 6 separately.
Two Years After Launch
Black Ops 6 launched at $69.99 in October 2024, making its move into Premium a catalogue expansion rather than a day-one release. The game arrived with the campaign, multiplayer and Zombies as its main components, and its addition now gives Premium subscribers access to that same core package.
“Black Ops 6 (Cloud, Console, Handheld, and PC) – September 25. Now with Game Pass Premium,” Microsoft said in its Game Pass lineup announcement. If streaming is the reason for choosing Premium, verify the cloud entitlement on your account first. If the plan is to download and play on a supported console or PC, Black Ops 6 is part of the Premium catalogue.
