Tyreek Hill reunion with Chiefs gets competition from surprise NFC contender
With the 2026 NFL trade deadline just over a month away, teams are already making calls to add new pieces to their offenses. Marvin Harrison Jr., Brian Thomas Jr., and Jerry Jeudy are among the biggest names expected to be dealt, but there’s still one free agent who could make a big impact on a contender: Tyreek Hill.
Hill suffered a gruesome injury in Week 4 of last season, dislocating his left knee and tearing his ACL along with other ligaments, which ended his year. The Dolphins released him in February, and he’s been on the market since. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said recently that doctors recommended Hill wait until “perhaps some time in October” to return, and that there was no rush.
That time has now arrived, and there are rumors he could sign with a new team in the coming weeks. So far, all signs have pointed to the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that first drafted him and one that could use another playmaker at receiver. But there’s another team whose odds of landing Hill are quickly rising: the Minnesota Vikings.
According to Kalshi, the Vikings have the second-best odds of signing the eight-time Pro Bowler at around 29%, behind only the Chiefs at 39%. Other teams in the mix include the Bills (9%), Packers (5%), and Chargers (4%).

The Vikings are rising for a reason. They just lost star wideout Justin Jefferson to an ankle injury, and while he isn’t expected to be out long, there’s no firm timetable for his return. Jordan Addison stepped up in his absence last week, catching five of nine targets for 90 yards and a touchdown. But Kyler Murray doesn’t have much to work with beyond Addison right now.
T.J. Hockenson is a capable pass catcher, but he has yet to top 40 receiving yards in a game this season. Jauan Jennings was signed in the offseason to be a reliable third option, but he has just one catch on three targets in two games. Beyond that, the Vikings are left with Tai Felton, Myles Price, and Jeshaun Jones. Even once Jefferson returns, Hill could slot in as a reliable third piece alongside Addison and give Murray three steady options.
The Chiefs remain the favorites, but Minnesota is also in win-now mode with one of the best defenses in football and has an offense that’s been banged up with injuries. They may feel more pressured to act fast and bring in a player who, when healthy, has been one of the most explosive weapons in the NFL over the last decade.
