Xbox Game Pass Loses 9 Games on October 15: Which Are Leaving Xbox?
Xbox Game Pass subscribers have less than two weeks to play nine games before they leave the subscription catalog, including one of 2025’s most decorated releases.
Microsoft’s October “Leaving Soon” lineup has nine titles departing Oct. 15: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Pacific Drive, Evil West, The Casting of Frank Stone, Crime Scene Cleaner, Donut County, Nova Roma and Superball.
“These games exit the Game Pass library in the next two weeks. To keep playing, buy now and save up to 20% with your member discount,” Microsoft says on its official Xbox Game Pass catalog page. The current catalog page also separates “Leaving soon” titles from the broader Game Pass library.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is The One To Start Now
If you only have time for one, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33has the strongest case for moving to the top of the list. “Available on day one! Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a ground-breaking turn-based RPG with unique real-time mechanics, making battles more immersive and addictive than ever before.”
It won Best Game at the BAFTA Games Awards, received 12 nominations there and tied for the most wins. It also has a 92 OpenCritic Top Critic Average with a 98% critic recommendation score, while sales have passed 8 million copies. There is one problem: time.
A main-story run can take under 30 hours, while a completionist playthrough can run to more than twice that. With the Oct. 15 cutoff approaching, starting from scratch is possible, but only if you’re prepared to put consistent hours into it. The fact that Clair Obscur has been on Game Pass for roughly a year and a half also makes this a particularly useful warning for subscribers who kept postponing it.
A Plague Tale: Requiem Is The Easier Time Commitment
A Plague Tale: Requiem is the more manageable choice if a 30-hour-plus RPG is unrealistic. The stealth-focused sequel follows Amicia and Hugo through a plague-ravaged medieval setting, combining exploration and environmental puzzles with encounters built around enormous rat swarms. A standard playthrough takes roughly 17 hours, putting it well within reach before the deadline if you start now.
Pacific Drive is the other substantial time commitment, taking roughly 21 hours to complete. It combines survival mechanics with driving through a hostile, surreal version of the Pacific Northwest.
Evil West and The Casting of Frank Stone are shorter, more focused experiences. Crime Scene Cleaner and Donut County are easier to fit into a few spare sessions, while Nova Roma remains in Game Pass Preview.
Superball Is A Different Kind Of Departure
Superball needs a separate explanation because it is a free-to-play game. The base game is not becoming unavailable on Oct. 15. What leaves Game Pass are the member benefits attached to it. Players can continue playing the free-to-play version after the Game Pass departure.
That makes it fundamentally different from the other eight games on Microsoft’s list, where losing Game Pass access means buying the game if you want to continue playing without another subscription entitlement.
For the other titles, the Oct. 15 date is therefore a real access deadline. If you’re already partway through a campaign and know you won’t finish it, the member purchase discount is the straightforward way to keep going without rushing through the final chapters.
| Game | What To Know |
|---|---|
| Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 | Award-winning RPG; under ~30 hours for the main story |
| A Plague Tale: Requiem | Stealth adventure; ~17 hours |
| Pacific Drive | Survival driving; ~21 hours |
| Evil West | Focused action game |
| The Casting of Frank Stone | Narrative-focused horror |
| Crime Scene Cleaner | Cleaning and investigation gameplay |
| Donut County | Short puzzle game |
| Nova Roma | City-builder in Game Pass Preview |
| Superball | Free-to-play; Game Pass member benefits leave |
The practical cutoff is Oct. 15. For most subscribers, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the game worth starting first, while A Plague Tale: Requiem makes more sense if you want a substantial game that can realistically be finished in the remaining time.
