Jaguars have eyes on first Super Bowl — and chance to also become America’s Team

They are one of four franchises never to have played in a Super Bowl — along with the Browns, Lions and Texans. Three times they have been denied in the AFC Championship game, twice under head coach Tom Coughlin (including in their second season) and more recently nine seasons ago under coach Doug Marrone.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will have played 16 times across the pond following Sunday’s game against the Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and next week’s against the Texans at Wembley Stadium before they return on Nov. 1 to their EverBank Stadium home, which is under construction.

They weren’t quite UK’s Team when they first played at Wembley in 2013 against the 49ers, but they sure are now.

“There was a hotel that we stayed at before the game over there,” Jaguars radio color analyst, and former Jet and Jaguar, Jeff Lageman told The Post from London, “and there’s a workout facility there that kind of overlooks Wembley and the area that you walk around Wembley, and I remember gameday getting my workout in that facility, and I’m just looking out the window at all these people walking around, and I’m just waiting to find a Jaguars jersey. And now it seems like I would say 35 per cent of them are Jaguars jerseys, and people are coming from all across Europe because they’ve been to other games here before and they’ve kind of attached themselves to this football team.”
