Untangling Kelly Clarkson’s Feud With Brooklyn Store Art of Play
Kelly Clarkson truly never thought she’d experience a moment like this.
And yet, the three-time Grammy winner’s plan to visit a Brooklyn novelty store she thought “looked really rad” left her saying, I can’t believe it’s happening to me.
She had already scanned the shop’s collection of games, puzzles and decor pieces online “and had a few things in mind to buy,” the former talk show host explained in an Oct. 10 post on X. Yet when she spied Molly, a singing and dancing bird automaton that allegedly boasted a $15,000 price tag, one of the shop’s employees made a big mistake. Big. Huge.
“Literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it,” the 44-year-old shared with her nearly 9 million followers, “and was told he could find something comparable for me. Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale.”
Meanwhile, the mom to daughter River, 12, and son Remy, 10, had the rom-com moment she never wanted.
As she put it in her post referencing the 1990 film’s you-work-on-commission moment, “Y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman.”
