Breaking Bad’s RJ Mitte Dead at 34
Hollywood has lost a fierce advocate.
Breaking Bad star RJ Mitte died in Brownsville, Texas, his rep told E! News Oct. 12. He was 34.
“It is with profound sadness,” the rep said, “that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte.”
His cause of death was not confirmed.
Mitte rose to fame playing Walt Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White, on the beloved AMC drama, bringing his own experience with cerebral palsy—a group of conditions that affect movement, balance and posture, per the Mayo Clinic—to the character.
“Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion,” his rep shared, noting that the actor was proud of “supporting philanthropic efforts and community initiatives, while using his platform to challenge stereotypes and promote greater representation for people with disabilities.”
