Why Jason Isaacs Says White Lotus Was an “Open Prison Camp”

Jason Issacs is checking his feelings about the White Lotus.

The actor—who played head of the Ratliff family—gave some insight on what it was like filming at the luxury resort that also doubled as living quarters for the cast, crew, their families, and series creator Mike White.

“It was a theatre camp, but to some extent an open prison camp: you couldn’t avoid one other,” Jason, 61, told The Guardian in an interview published in February. “There are tensions and difficulties, I don’t know if they spilled from on screen to off-screen, or if it would have happened anyway.”

He added, “There were alliances that formed and broke, romances that formed and broke, friendships that formed and broke. It’s a long period of time for people to be away from their family with an open bar and all the wildness being in Thailand allows.”
