The Diplomat Kills Off Major Character in Season 4 Shocker
Keri Russell Reveals She and Matthew Rhys Had “Sex All the Time” While in Costume on The Americans
Spoilers ahead for The Diplomat season four.
The Diplomat is saying goodbye to a beloved character.
Season four of the Keri Russell-led Netflix political thriller, which dropped on the streamer Oct. 15, revealed the fate of U.K. Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi), confirming he died in a helicopter crash in India off-screen.
The character—who married his girlfriend Thema in the season three finale—was noticeably absent in the first few episodes of the fourth season. But it’s not until the end of the third episode that Dennison’s death, and its circumstances, are confirmed.
U.K. Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge (Rory Kinnear) reveals during a meeting with Kate Wyler (Russell) and her often-estranged husband U.S. Vice President Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) that he sent Dennison to Amritsar to meet with the Indian Prime Minister before the fatal crash.
While Kate and Dennison shared romantic tension throughout the show’s previous seasons, nearly acting on their feelings in season three, they ultimately chose not to explore a romantic relationship.
