Rowland was equally moved, joking that she “would get up here and not even be able to talk for crying.”

“This place, this space, these souls,” the 45-year-old said through tears. “What a legacy you’ve built.”

“I’m grateful to be here, and thank you, thank you to the city of Houston,” Rowland continued, “for just being such an anchor for us, for always being able to come back home and being able to give.”
