Sara Bareilles “Still Holding Out” For ‘Girls5eva’ Movie
Although Girls5eva was cut short after three seasons, Sara Bareilles still has some “Big P*ssy Energy” to work out with her inner Fledge Mulholland.
The 2x Grammy winner recently admitted she’s “still holding out” for a movie adaptation of the Peacock/Netflix series, which ran for three seasons from 2021 to 2024, noting that she and her co-stars would “do it in a heartbeat.”
“I would do that show until I was dead in the ground. I loved it so much,” she said on The Zach Sang Show. “They just stopped paying us to do it. I would do it for free—I maybe wouldn’t do it for free, but I would do it for very little.”
Bareilles continued, “We wanted to tour. We wanted to do all kinds of things. I’m still holding out for a Sex and the City style movie, like a Girls5eva film. That feels finite, we could do it.”
When asked if the rest of the cast would sign on, she said “100 percent,” adding, “They loved it. We loved it. We loved each other, and we loved doing that. I think we’d do it in a heartbeat.”
Created by Meredith Scardino, Girls5eva followed the four surviving members of the titular late ’90s/early aughts girl group as the reunite to make their comeback amid the stresses of being a woman of a certain age. Bareilles starred alongside Busy Philipps, Paula Pell, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Ashley Park.
