One dead after crash involving moped, vehicle in east Austin



AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person is dead after they were pinned underneath a vehicle in east Austin Tuesday, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

ATCEMS medics said on social media they and the Austin Fire Department responded to the crash at North Pleasant Valley Road around 6 p.m. That’s near Lady Bird Lake.

AFD said crews were able to successfully remove the moped rider from underneath the vehicle. However, medics said they were pronounced dead on the scene.

The Austin Police Department said on social media around 6:20 p.m. that Pleasant Valley Road was closed in both directions between Canterbury Street and South Lakeshore Boulevard. Drivers should avoid the area or seek alternate routes.
