First Warning: Hottest temperatures of 2025 next week
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The hottest temperatures of 2025 (so far) look set to build into Central Texas by the middle of May.
Hottest days so far…
The hottest temperatures we’ve had so far this year came in March with a high of 96º in Austin at Camp Mabry.
High pressure building in
Low pressure that’s helped bring multiple rain chances to Central Texas will continue pushing east while high pressure builds in from the south. That high pressure will cause sinking air that takes away our rain chances, while compressing the air above our heads pushes temperatures hotter and hotter.

The result?
What does that mean? Right now we’re expecting high temperatures to reach the middle 90s by next Tuesday and upper 90s Wednesday and Thursday, which would mean the hottest temperatures of 2025 are on the way. This far out, we can’t rule out the first triple digits of the year arriving next week as well. It’s even more likely we have triple digits next week in parts of the Hill Country.

Record breaking heat possible
If we reach the upper 90s next Wednesday (May 14th) and next Thursday (May 15th) we will break and tie the record highs for those dates respectively.
The record high on May 14 is 97º from 2022 and the record high on May 15 is 98º from 1925.
