A socialist political party linked to Elias Rodriguez, the suspect in the fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy staff in Washington, DC, denied that he is a member.
Rodriguez, 30, was quoted on the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) website in a post about a protest the group held at then-Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s house over the police shooting of Laquan McDonald and the city’s bid for Amazon‘s headquarters.
“We reject any attempt to associate the PSL with the DC shooting,” the party said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
“Elias Rodriguez is not a member of the PSL. He had a brief association with one branch of the PSL that ended in 2017. We know of no contact with him in over 7 years. We have nothing to do with this shooting and do not support it.”
Newsweek has contacted the PSL for comment via a general mail inbox given on its social media profile.
