Cher’s son Elijah Blue Allman hospitalized after overdosing in California

Cher’s 48-year-old son, Elijah Blue Allman, was rushed to the hospital after overdosing in Joshua Tree, California on Saturday morning, according to TMZ.

Elijah is reportedly still in the hospital and “receiving the best care possible,” the outlet reported on Sunday.

TMZ added that Elijah is “lucky to have survived.”

It’s unclear what drugs Elijah was using.

Sources told TMZ that Cher, 79, is focused on her son’s well-being and is “doing everything she can to get him the help he needs.”

Elijah’s father was the late Southern rockstar Gregg Allman, whom Cher was married to from 1975 to 1979. He died of complications from liver cancer at age 69 in May 2017.

Elijah has dealt with substance abuse issues since he was a kid.

In 2014, he told Entertainment Tonight that he started using drugs at age 11. “I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past and, that’s when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know heroin and opiates,” he said.

“[Heroin] kind of saved me. If I didn’t have that at that point, I don’t know what I would have done,” Elijah added. “You may jump off a bridge. If you can only just go through that time period and live through it and then get help.”

In Dec. 2023, Cher applied to place her son in a conservatorship, claiming he could not “substantially manage his own financial resources” because of “severe mental health and substance abuse issues.”

“Any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk,” the legal documents stated.

She also claimed that Allman’s estranged wife, Marieangela King, was a bad influence on her son and actively worked against her efforts to get him help.

King, for her part, accused the “Believe” singer of hiring four men to kidnap Allman to send him to a rehab facility.

Cher denied King’s kidnapping allegations and told The Post at the time, “I didn’t do it, and if I did it, I wouldn’t say I did it.”

The Goddess of Pop later dismissed the conservatorship case in September 2024.

In April, King filed for divorce from Allman, citing irreconcilable differences. She marked their date of separation as March 31, 2025.
