U.S. Rep. Arrington speaks on new Texas Tech Chancellor

LUBBOCK, TexasFollowing the expectation that Brandon Creighton will become the new Chancellor of the Texas Tech University System, United States Congressman Jodey Arrington spoke about the hiring.

In a statement released Sunday, Arrington congratulated Creighton and welcomed him to the Lubbock community. “To my fellow West Texans and Red Raiders, please join me in congratulating our next Chancellor, Brandon Creighton,” he said. Arrington pledged, “I am at the ready to help Brandon ‘bear our banners far and wide’ in our nation’s capital and beyond as he leads the greatest University System in all the land. Guns up, and Go West Texas!!”

Arrington serves Texas as a United States Representative, with Lubbock included in the district he represents. He has strong ties to Texas Tech, with rumors that he would attempt to serve as the university’s Chancellor. However, with the news of Creighton’s hiring it seems that Arrington is committed to his position as House Budget Chairman and representing the 19th Congressional District.
